Job Purpose
The Member Payable Clerk works with the Manager of Financial Services to assist with processing of monies payable to our Saulteau First Nations members. They play a key role in maintaining clean vendor records in the accounting system and processing payments including but not limited to per-capita distributions, minor’s payout from trust, community enhancement, patient travel, and other. They also assist with trade payables as coverage for the Accounts Payable Clerk.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Corresponding with SFN members to maintain accurate profiles in the accounting system.
- Monitoring of the SFN Payout email and responding to members on a timely and courteous basis
- Corresponding with SFN members becoming eligible to receive money from trust to retrieve necessary documents to facilitate payout.
- Corresponding with trustees about to facilitate member payouts from trust.
- Processing of accounts payable transactions related to per-capita distributions, trust payouts, community enhancement, patient travel, and other as requested.
- Assisting with preparation of finance reports and related analysis
- Establish proactive, positive, and constructive working relationships with clients and departments.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Certificate in Accounting; preference to Diploma in Accounting, or Formal accounting training (i.e. Accounting courses, CAPA, Business Admin diploma or degree) with a minimum 2 years working experience in accounts payable capacity.
- Preference will be given to those with experience in a First Nations environment.
- Experience with the accounting system Sage Intacct and Float is considered an asset.
- Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check is required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Must possess a high level of moral judgment for handling confidential information and monetary transactions.
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent mathematical aptitude
- Attention to detail in all areas of work; strong analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
- Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.
- Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of all personal and payment information.
Work Conditions
- Work is performed primarily in the band office with hours of work set as 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursdays.
- This is a 1 Year Term position
- Travel may be required within SFN community.
- Wage: $24.50-$28.18/ Hr
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $24.50-$28.18 per hour
