We are seeking an elementary generalist teacher who will be responsible for teaching physical education for Kindergarten – Grade 6. The ideal candidate for this position is positive, enthusiastic, reflective, collaborative, and creative. The ability to support diverse learning needs for students is crucial. An interest or background in integrating the Arts into Phys. Ed. (for example, through creative movement and dance) would be considered an asset.
Dr. Ken Sauer Fine Arts School offers Kindergarten through Grade 6 to approximately 300 students. We are proud to offer arts-centered learning and fine arts education as whole school approach. Our vision is: To inquire. To create. To build an inclusive community . Our staff is committed to inclusion, inquiry, integration, and cooperative learning as important elements in our program.
Applicants should have a passion for Physical Education and a strong skill set that would support excellent delivery of this curriculum in ways that are highly engaging and developmentally appropriate. We want our students to experience a wide variety of P.E. activities and games as they explore different skills and build habits to support lifelong active living. We require a candidate who can demonstrate superb student management skills while delivering excellent programming, possibly to two classes of students together. A vision for delivering a P.E. program in a way that allows students to return to class regulated and ready for learning is essential. The successful candidate will have the help of a P.E. Educational Assistant so an aptitude for both collaboration and leadership is required. This unique position asks the applicant to build working relationships with every student and every staff member in our school. A belief in restorative practice is important for when challenges might arise.
