Job Description (Alexandria)
The Youth Worker is responsible for assisting with and implementing the planned activities for children and youth between the ages of 6 and 12. The Youth Worker recognizes and accepts the need to be a positive influence who models honesty, fair play, a positive attitude, cooperation and respect for self and others.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and participate in program activities
- Maintain a clean organized space
- Supervise children and youth in the program
- Complete records as required
- Liaise with parents and caregivers
- Assist with the promotion of the clubhouse programs and activities
KNOWLEDGE (Education)
Demonstrated superior competencies in child/youth care settings and/or working toward or completion of a college diploma or university degree in a child & youth related or recreation field
- Standard First Aid and C.P.R certification
- General understanding of diversity issues
SKILLS (Experience)
- Experience in child & youth related field
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills in a program instruction capacity
ABILITIES (Competencies)
- Mentoring and coaching abilities
- Initiative to work both independently and with a team with minimal supervision
- Multilingualism an asset OTHER
- Valid driver’s license is an asset
- Must provide a Criminal Reference Check
- Must provide Proof of Vaccination (2 doses)
