Join the Toronto Crafts Teaching Crew
Woodworking & Upholstery Instructor – Weeknights & Weekends
Toronto Crafts isn’t your average DIY studio — we’re a community-driven space for people who love learning with their hands, sharing skills, and slowing down to make something meaningful.
Our mission is to make woodworking and craft education more accessible and welcoming, by connecting folks to tactile tools, local makers, and the joy of building something real — together.
Now, we’re expanding our teaching team.
Do you love to teach and make?
We’re looking for instructors who can lead one-time or multi-week classes in areas like:
- Woodworking (hand tools, power tools, jointers, planers — the works)
- Furniture builds (start-to-finish: design, cutting, joinery, assembly, finishing)
- Joinery techniques (simple pocket holes to traditional mortise & tenon)
- Finishing & sharpening (because a tuned-up chisel is a beautiful thing)
- Upholstery (refreshing or building soft goods with structure and style)
Whether you're a master in one area or a jack-of-many-trades, we want to hear from you.
This could be a great fit if:
- You have solid hands-on skills and a few strong projects under your belt
- You've taught before — or naturally love breaking things down and guiding others
- You’re excited to share your craft and watch people light up when they "get it"
- You're available some weeknights or weekends in Toronto
- You’re looking to join a creative crew, not just clock in for a gig
What we’d love to see:
- A few photos of your work (in-progress or finished — we love both)
- A quick note about your teaching or facilitation experience
- Your general availability (we’re flexible!)
Details:
- Pay: $30–$50/hr depending on experience, prep, and class format
- Schedule: Flexible — we’ll work with your weekday or weekend availability
- Setup: Freelance contract with opportunities for regular roles
- Materials: We supply them, or co-plan sourcing with you (including kits if needed)
- Perks: Studio access, co-marketing, and a genuinely good-vibes team
At Toronto Crafts, we’re building something that lasts — a place where people connect through making, grow confidence through skill, and build beauty with intention.
If that speaks to you, we’d love to hear from you.
