Job Title: Weld Technical Associate

Reports To: Weld Technical Coordinator
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Responsible for industrial maintenance of facility and factory automation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Completion of assigned DM activity in plant that may include modifying processes, custom fabrications, testing and evaluating current and new processes for improvements, PLC programming, Robot programming, HMI programming
- Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance. Maintain, examine, repair, install and test electrical wiring, components and electronic equipment in industrial setting
- Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices. May install, maintain, and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices. Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and ensure proper industrial electrical equipment installations as per Ontario Electrical Safety Code.
- In depth knowledge of electrical and electronic safety, circuits, devices and circuits.
- Knowledge of safeguarding (CSA Z432 Safeguarding of Machinery) and robotics safety (CSA Z434 - Industrial robots and robot systems)
- Train Weld Production Associates on basic maintenance skills, tools, OPM activities and equipment operation.
- Provide training for Production Team Leaders on any improvements that are made to the process so that they can train Weld Production Associates on all changes.
- Conduct preventative maintenance programs and keep maintenance records. Review PM’s for correct equipment and pass forward any finding to Weld Technical Team Leader/Coordinator.

- Complete communication documentation as well as updating any documentation that need to be change due to an improvement in process; This includes CAD drawings, line layouts, and SOP’s.
- Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Post secondary education in Engineering or Engineering Technology desired as well as two or more years experience in PLC programming, instrumentation and controls is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
