PURPOSE OF POSITION
The purpose of this position is to support production, general maintenance and engineering with weld development, quality and continuous improvement for all weld related processes for both BP1 and BP2 and training for production and training.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION
The position is primarily responsible for welding development and production weld quality support for both BP1 and BP2. Provide technical weld support to ensure weld quality and requirements complies with specification. Develop set up, operate, train and maintain of weld processes and systems in compliance with customer and weld requirements. Act as contact weld engineer for both internal and external bodies on the subject of welding.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: The successful candidate must have welding certification, and/or have completed a post-secondary technical program, or equivalent. Additional completion of further training in management/leadership skills may help. Have a minimum of 3 year experience with welding process development in a similar automotive manufacturing environment.
Knowledge and Skills:The incumbent must be versatile in welding processes, and extensive knowledge of welding standards, occupational health and safety and quality standards (IATF 16949 and ISO9001) are required. Strong written and oral communication skills and proficiency with MS Office are required for normal business/technical communication and to provide instruction and feedback to team and manager.
Communication Skills:Very good communication skills, ability to work well with and lead CIP and weld development activities for all department. The TEMT-Weld support must have strong leadership skills for team building, problem solving and must be able to interact professionally with other departments in order to achieve goals and meet the needs of the customer and the company.
Nature and Length of Experience:At least five years of experience beyond welding certification in a similar industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for welding process development - programming the robot, maintaining and troubleshooting welding robots, and implementing robotic welding for both manufacturing and production of BP1 and BP2.
- Provide welding technical knowledge for all welding processes and work cells in term of contract review, design review, material review, supplier review, production planning, welding equipment, welding production inspection, welding acceptance and documentations.
- Support training of skilled personnel (Welders, operators, supporting welding supervisory personnel).
- Support and lead product launches (welding related) to ensure on time launches.
- Create robotic welding programs, modify existing welding programs, and conduct welding cell cycle time calculations.
- Identify and perform correct robotic welding parameters, welding procedures, operations and programs verification.
- Preparation of procedures in compliance with standards – DIN EN Welding and customer standards.
- Assist and support in CIP welding projects to ensure KPI performance matrix improvements.
- Provide support to the Weld Cell Team during the observation, creation and improvement efforts of standardized welding work instructions and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance of robotic equipment and welding equipment.
- Compliance with, and monitoring of safety regulations.
- Compliance with, and monitoring of accident prevention regulations.
- Support for subsidiaries
- Support activities for preparing PFMEA and CP development.
- Any other job-related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Team Lead, Supervisor or Manager.
