Growth Mindset Co is a small business in Sarnia, ON. We are professional, agile, innovative, and our goal is to create and facilitate activity programming for youth aged 11-25.

Growth Mindset Co is a social enterprise that works on contract with local Non-Profit organizations to create, facilitate and monitor activity programming and manage the operational tasks of associated with that programming. Currently, Growth Mindset Co is collaborating with YWHO-Sarnia-Lambton to pilot an activity center as part of their care model. Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario (YWHO) is an initiative that aims to bring the right services to youth (and their families) at the right time and in the right place. YWHO is a critical step toward improving Ontario’s mental health and addiction services for youth and young adults. Growth Mindset Co is currently seeking a candidate for a part-time position to join our team of dedicated activity instructors and program facilitators. Growth Mindset Co. is driven by a purpose to positively impact our youth accessing mental health services, through the power of community and movement.

Qualifications:
· Background and Vulnerable Persons Police Check – can acquire after hiring
· G2 License and a working vehicle for transporting activity equipment to special events
· Ability to work evenings and weekends
· Experience working with young people, gained volunteering with a local youth group or through paid employment.
· Effective Communication Skills
· Ability to work well in a team
· A growth mindset – adaptability and willingness to learn
Summary of responsibilities:
· Utilizes excellent time management skills to schedule activity instructors, youth and other events and programs.
· Potentially oversee and supervise placement student's from Lambton College.
· Utilize conflict management skills to navigate challenges with staff or youth.
· Responsibly and reliably open and close Weir Active as a trusted key holder.
· Facilitate staff debrief sessions while keeping organized documentation of sessions.
· Transport equipment from Weir Active to off-site locations as required for various special events.
· Provide peer mentorship to activity instructors and take part in team meetings to improve the service of the space and directly report to management
· Leads, motivates and/or supervises participant(s) in activities taking place in the activity class setting.
· Problem solves and support participant(s) who are experiencing behavioural, emotional, and social issues.
· Assesses participants experiencing difficulties; recommends necessary interventions for participants(s) who may be experiencing challenges within the activity class framework.
· Provides follow-up and support to participant(s) within the activity classes attended.
· Provides support in the areas of social skills, conflict resolution and mediation, self-esteem, assertiveness, communications, goal setting, problem solving and anger and stress management.
· Develops a working relationship with all participants. Welcomes new participants.
· Provides support to participants with orientation, registration, class changes and program choices.
· Observes and monitors behaviours and supports the implementation of behaviour strategies.
· Maintains appropriate documentation and always ensures confidentiality.
· Acts as a mediator when participants are in conflict, provides conflict resolution support and guides participant(s) through the process.
· Monitors attendance and follows up on lates and absences with management to strategize support if necessary.
· Participates in team meetings and advocates on behalf of the participant(s). Ensures that activity class instructor(s) and/or administrator(s) are informed of all serious issues and are updated on plans and follow-up.
· Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates community-based recreational, social and/or educational activities to meet clients’ needs.
· Encourages and facilitates clients’ participation in activities; provides guidance and instructions.
· Monitors and observes clients’ behaviour. Reports problems to management and is prepared to strategize support mechanisms.
· Provides skill-building to clients such as life skills and social skills, models appropriate behaviour.
· Ensures the safety of clients. Responds to emergencies in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
· Participates in the development of individual activity plans.
· Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.
· Attends 10+ hours of employee training
· Assist and facilitate data collection regarding activity centre participant experience
· Assist with various administrative tasks
· Must be able to perform basic fitness movements such as but not limited to, getting down to and up from the ground or lifting equipment, up to 50lbs, down to and up from the ground, reaching arms above head, twisting and lateral movements, etc.
Education:
- Preference for students almost complete or graduated from the child and youth care or social service work diploma program.
- All training will be provided
