The Warehouse & Distribution Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Order Fulfillment department. This position ensures the accurate and timely picking, packing, and shipping of finished goods, while upholding exceptional standards for customer service and product quality. Acting as a bridge between departments, the Warehouse & Distribution Manager collaborates closely with Production, Inventory, Logistics, and Customer Service teams to ensure alignment and efficiency across the supply chain. The role also ensures ongoing compliance with all regulatory requirements, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and HACCP protocols, while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the daily operations of the Order Fulfillment department, ensuring accurate and timely order processing, packing, and shipping.
- Monitor department performance using KPIs such as packing accuracy, fulfillment speed, pounds packed, and labor efficiency; address variances and drive continuous improvement.
- Guide the senior leadership team in decision-making by providing insights and recommendations based on order fulfillment processes and performance metrics.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and overall effectiveness.
- Manage staffing needs, including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management. Support employee development and training initiatives.
- Provide hands-on leadership by actively engaging with team members on the floor, promoting accountability and a high-performance culture.
- Utilize the ERP system to manage order workflows, inventory levels, and fulfillment accuracy. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
- Ensure outbound orders meet quality standards and comply with frozen distribution protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Customer Service, Logistics) to meet order requirements, address customer needs, and maintain fulfillment schedules.
- Troubleshoot fulfillment issues in real time to prevent delays or service disruptions.
- Maintain a safe working environment by following company health and safety programs and acting on recommendations from the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
- Ensure all fulfillment activities meet food safety and quality standards, including compliance with the company’s HACCP and GMP programs.
- Act as a backup to the Order Fulfillment Specialist, providing support when needed.
- 10+ years of leadership experience in a warehouse or distribution environment, preferably in manufacturing or food handling.
- Strong background in warehouse operations, including inventory control, barcode scanning, and order fulfillment accuracy.
- Familiarity with operating forklifts, reach trucks, and stackers is an asset.
- Experience managing logistics or coordinating inbound/outbound transportation is preferred.
- Proficient with ERP systems and Excel, with the ability to analyze data and report on KPIs.

- Ensure compliance with written procedures and GMPs in order fulfillment and storage areas.
- Monitor allergen control procedures and enforce proper packaging and storage practices to prevent cross-contamination.
- Ensure accurate traceability and product coding in accordance with ERP requirements.
- Promptly report any food safety issues to the Quality Assurance Manager for assessment and follow-up.
- Support investigations into food safety or quality-related complaints from customers, suppliers, or agents.
- Monitor and address unsafe storage conditions that may pose food safety risks.
