Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal care and veterinary practices, demonstrating both technical skills and a genuine love for animals. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our patients, assisting veterinarians in various procedures, and ensuring the well-being of animals in our facility.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures
- Perform routine laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging, including X-rays
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Monitor animal vital signs and provide critical care when necessary
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including proper aseptic techniques
- Provide support in animal handling, restraint, and catheterization
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and training techniques
- Participate in grooming and bathing of animals as needed
- Collaborate with team members to enhance patient care and clinic operations
- Multitask working alone or as a team player as per clinic workload situation
Skills
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal physiology
- Experience with animal husbandry practices and pet care techniques
- Proficiency in dog and cat handling, animal restraint, and behavior management
- Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures related to veterinary dentistry and dental cleaning skills
- Background in veterinary critical care or emergency response is highly desirable
- Laboratory experience including sample collection and processing is beneficial
- Ability to perform tasks with attention to detail while maintaining a calm demeanor in stressful situations
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members
