Job Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Vegetable Prep / Kitchen Assistant to join our team. This is a hands-on, physical role that includes produce prep and general kitchen support. Ideal candidates are organized, adaptable, and confident working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of meals by chopping, slicing, and dicing ingredients as directed by the cook or chef.
- Help maintain a clean and organized kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
- Ensure that all food handling practices comply with health and safety regulations.
- Assist with cooling soups, stocks, and other products.
- Monitor food storage areas to ensure proper organization and adherence to food safety guidelines.
- Participate in inventory management by assisting with stock rotation and reporting any shortages to the chef/management.
- Step in where needed to support a smooth kitchen workflow.
Skills & Requirements
- Previous kitchen experience is required
- Knowledge of food handling and safety practices is essential
- Strong knife skills and familiarity with kitchen tools and equipment
- Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Reliable, organized, and self-motivated with good time management skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Positive attitude and willingness to jump in wherever needed
Schedule
- Current shift: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Shift may change to 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM in the fall
- Preference for full-time, but open to part-time (3–4 days/week)
Wage & Perks
- $17.85/hour starting wage
- Eligible for increase to $19/hour after 3-month performance review
- 1 free staff meal per shift
