Status: Temporary Part Time (12 Month Contract)
Department: Operating Room - ADM
Program: Surgical Program
Days, Evenings, Weekends; 8 Hour Shifts (Subject to Change)

Wage Schedule: $28.340 - $29.620 per hour

This position is open to all qualified CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 5 June 2025 and closing at 11:59 pm on 10 June 2025.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Unit Clerk performs a wide variety of clerical duties including: maintaining patient charts; facilitating the admission/discharge/transfer process and registration; maintaining confidentiality of information; documenting and maintaining a variety of statistical information for the unit; answering the telephone and taking accurate messages. Inputting into the computer and writing reports, utilizing OR Manager and Excel spreadsheets; payroll, staffing scheduling and performing other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Medical Office Administration Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Previous experience transcribing doctor's orders;
  • Proven knowledge of medical terminology (tested);
  • Proven knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (tested - basic level);
  • Proven keyboarding skills of 35 wpm (tested);
  • Experience with Meditech registration module and OR Manager preferred;
  • Proven experience/knowledge of both CUPE and ONA scheduling language and associated premium entitlements;
  • Proven experience in computerized Meditech Personnel/Payroll and Admissions Modules;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and to demonstrate initiative;
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize them;
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills working in a team environment;
  • Physically capable of performing the work including reaching, bending, and pulling;
  • Proven ability to adhere to strict confidentiality;
  • Proven ability to work productively in a busy environment with many interruptions and distractions;
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area;

  • Must have a satisfactory performance record;
  • Physically capable of performing the work including reaching, bending and pulling;

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.

Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
