Role Overview
This position is responsible for supporting Treasury and Global Markets in Canada Branch, including Business Unit Risk Management (BURM) responsibilities and financial planning and analysis for Canada Treasury. This position works with other stakeholders to ensure alignment of Canada Treasury with global policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
1) Business Unit Risk Management: Working closely with Business Unit Risk Control Office (BURCO) and Canada Treasury, perform 1st Line of Defense risk duties as Business Unit Risk Manager (BURM) for Canada Treasury
- Risk & Controls: Oversee the assessment of Canada Treasury’s operational and other risks, and identify controls to mitigate risks
- Compliance: Support Canada Treasury’s compliance with regulatory and internal requirements (e.g. Canada Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), Counterparty KYC, Volcker Rule, US Swap Dealer, etc.)
- Records & Information Management: Support Canada Treasury's Records & Information Management (RIM)
- Issues Management: Oversee the management of any identified issues - Operational Incidents Reporting: Oversee the reporting of any operational incidents
2) Financial Planning and Analysis
- Support the Treasury Head & Deputy Head on data analysis and presentations for reporting, business planning and strategy purposes
- Produce regular and ad hoc reporting required to support decision making within Canada Treasury, including Profit and Loss and expense planning
- Identify opportunities to increase efficiencies in data analysis, data management, and reporting
3) Vendor Management
- Support Canada Treasury's Third Party Vendor relationships including annual review, invoicing and expense management
4) Other
- Support Head of Treasury, Deputy Head of Treasury, ALM and FX teams with operational tasks
- Support Treasury with compliance testing and internal audit
Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree or above
- Some education or training in finance, either through degree program or through other professional designations such as CFA, etc.
- 1-3 years of experience in financial services industry preferred
- Data analysis and/or database (e.g. Power BI) experience
- Strong knowledge of Global Markets business, including both global and local regulations, and practices and procedures
- Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders in Canada, US and Japan, and within MUFG's global network
- Advanced skills in MS365 including Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint (Strong PowerBI skills an asset
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong communication skills
- Fluency in English (written/spoken) (Japanese language skills an asset)
