As part of the 2025 Election Training team, you will be reporting to the Team Lead, Training. Your role will be to deliver in-person training sessions to over 5,000 election workers. The Trainer will become a content subject matter expert, demonstrating strong adult learning facilitation skills and best practices with the delivery of the required knowledge, election legislative content, and specific role processes. You will play a vital role in supporting the election workers to gain confidence as they administer the electoral voting process. Maintaining and creating strong team relationships will be critical for the training team's success with the delivery of this program. Primary duties include:
  • Strong organizational with solid planning and in person classroom delivery; following and ensuring program delivery timeframes and schedule are consistently met.
  • Adhere to and deliver specific 2025 election legislative processes and content for each election worker role training program.
  • Create an engaging learning environment that enables participants to acquire the required knowledge, and skills to build confidence in their election worker roles.
  • Monitor feedback from post-training surveys and embed timely feedback, incorporating suggestions for improved delivery practices of training content and delivery.
  • Conduct post training classroom assessments and provide advice on role suitability of election workers, as needed.
  • As required, set up and tear down of training classes, including training materials and technology.
  • Remain impartial during training sessions when delivering content as well during the 2025 Election event.
  • Represent The City of Calgary's corporate culture during all training sessions.
Qualifications
  • A completed 1 year certificate in Adult Learning, Education, Facilitation or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in delivering training, teaching or facilitation of content courses.
  • A strong background in adult learning methodology, applying various training techniques and managing classroom dynamics.
  • A valid class 5 driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent) and use of a personal vehicle for work is required.
  • Experience working in previous elections, local government and/or larger-scale events will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to convey specific information, messages and concepts related to election processes.
  • Collaborative team member.
  • Strong organization/planning skills.

  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
  • A security clearance will be conducted.

Business Unit: City Clerk's Office

Position Type: Up to 2 Temporary positions ( up to 3 months)
Location: 1212, 31 Avenue N.E.

Compensation: Pay Grade 7 $35.45 - $47.43 per hour
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
