Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Technical Estimator and CAD Drafter to join our team. This multifaceted role combines cost estimation and CAD drafting to support custom gasket manufacturing. All work is performed on-site at our Mississauga facility—no travel or customer visits required.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Estimation
- Prepare accurate and timely customer quotations and RFQ costings
- Source, review, and maintain third-party raw material pricing
- Analyze historical production costs to inform future estimates
- Collaborate with operations and purchasing to ensure quote accuracy
- Provide technical support to customers via phone and email
- Factor in key variables such as equipment specs, material pricing, freight, inflation, offcuts, and fabrication efficiency
- Understand manufacturing methods and time requirements for custom jobs
CAD Drafting
- Create and modify detailed 2D CAD drawings for custom gaskets and fabricated components
- Interpret customer specifications, engineering drawings, and sample parts to produce accurate designs
- Ensure drawings meet industry standards and internal manufacturing capabilities
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimize designs for manufacturability
- Maintain organized drawing files and revision histories
- Assist in developing templates and design standards for recurring product types
- Support quoting and estimation processes with precise technical drawings
Qualifications & Skills
- 5–10 years of experience in technical estimation and CAD drafting
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D required; 3D an asset)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Skilled in interpreting production drawings and converting measurements
- Advanced mathematical and analytical skills
- Deep understanding of costing and manufacturing processes
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
- Experience with ACCPAC/SAGE is a plus
- Background in Math, Manufacturing, or Engineering preferred
- Familiarity with AS9100 / ISO 9001 standards is an asset
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
