Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Consultant to join our Electrical Engineering team. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in project management, traffic signal systems, lighting design, electrical inspection, and traffic systems evaluation. This role requires a dynamic professional who can lead teams, liaise with internal and external stakeholders, and deliver optimal designs and solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Expertise:

  • Manage projects related to traffic signal, illumination, and traffic signal/streetlighting maintenance contracts.
  • Design traffic signal layouts and electrical systems, including lighting design.
  • Conduct electrical inspections and optimize timing plans.
  • Program and troubleshoot traffic controllers (N.E.M.A. and M-170).
  • Evaluate and implement traffic systems to meet project requirements.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with internal departments and design managers (Civil, Structural, Transportation, etc.) to produce optimal designs.
  • Liaise with external agencies, including Federal, Provincial, and Municipal authorities, Hydro authorities, and other utility agencies, as required.

Education and Typical Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Typical Experience: 8+ years of experience as a technical consultant in a related industry.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in traffic signal layout and electrical design.
    • Expertise in traffic controller programming (N.E.M.A. and M-170).
    • Strong knowledge of lighting design and electrical inspection standards.
    • Familiarity with traffic systems evaluation and implementation.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to supervise and lead technical teams.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with relevant design and simulation software (e.g., AutoCAD, Synchro, or similar tools).
