The Systems Specialist is a collaborative member of the Operational Technology team. Our Operational Technology (OT) team manages and supports OT architecture, standards, and solution implementation across the various manufacturing operations within J.D. Irving (e.g. Sawmills, Frozen food production, Pulp & Paper and Tissue product production, and Shipbuilding).
This position will deliver, support, and advise on OT products and solutions and will satisfy business and operational requirements through the efficient use of internally established and industry best practices.
- Deliver customer projects, incident and service requests as required for customer OT environments .
- Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to integrate OT systems with enterprise systems.
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity best practices for OT environments.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for OT systems.
- Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Support compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and execute continuous improvement initiatives related to OT /IT network convergence.
- Infrastructure support, and introduction of new products and solutions for OT networks.
- Conduct research based on requirements and develop recommendations on OT products, services, protocols, and standards.
- Monitor and analyze architecture and operation of infrastructure and recommend enhancements to meet new or changing policies/standards.
- University Degree, College Diploma or Relevant Experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
- 3-8 years of experience in technology environments (systems, network, security)
- Knowledge or Experience in Systems; Active Directory (AD), Server OS (Windows/Linux), Virtualization, Storage, Enterprise Backup Services
- Knowledge and experience in network and security infrastructure for OT systems (e.g. SCADA, PLC’s, industrial communication protocols, etc.).
