Job Overview
We are recruiting a Surveyor to join our team at the BHP Jansen Potash Mine in Jansen, SK. This position is based on a 14/7 rotation and is camp-based at the Jansen Discovery Lodge.
As a Surveyor, you will be responsible for conducting surveys to determine boundaries, topography, and other physical features on a variety of construction and development projects. You will use a range of surveying instruments and techniques to collect accurate data, prepare reports, and provide essential information to support project planning and design.
Responsibilities
- Perform land surveys to establish property boundaries, topographic features, and construction layouts using traditional and advanced surveying equipment and techniques
- Gather field data, measurements, and observations, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date for project development and design purposes
- Produce detailed survey reports and maps, documenting findings and providing clear data for team members
- Work closely with construction teams to ensure survey data aligns with project requirements and regulatory standards
- Regularly inspect, maintain, and calibrate surveying instruments and equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Assist in the preparation of site layouts, grades, and elevations to guide construction efforts and ensure alignment with project plans
- Perform site visits to verify conditions and assist in resolving any discrepancies between survey data and actual site conditions
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Civil Enginering or related filed
- 5+ years' experience as a Surveyor in construction, civil engineering, or land surveying projects
- Proficient in operating and configuring Topcon and Trimble grade control systems and total stations for construction or surveying applications is required
- Knowledge of safety regulations and industry best practices related to surveying and construction
- Excellent ability to analyze and interpret survey data, identify discrepancies, and provide clear recommendations
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements, data recording, and report generation
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present survey findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to identify potential issues on-site and provide practical solutions based on survey data
- Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol test including cannabis
