The Opportunity:
We are looking for a driven, motivated professional with a strong work ethic to join the Surface Land Team in Fort St. John, BC. This role requires sound judgement, good negotiation skills and knowledge of the BCER regulatory process, as you will be responsible for a broad portfolio including surface rights acquisitions and community and government relations and consultation. You will have the exciting opportunity to highlight your superior communication skills as you represent Canadian Natural at community and industry committee meetings and government and surface rights board hearings. Key Accountabilities:
- Coordinate and manage land access for well sites, pipelines and facilities, including negotiations for land dealings and the acquisition of rights for surveying, well sites, pipelines and facilities
- Coordinate and manage BCER applications for new development and to support restoration and reclamation activities within the assigned land area
- Oversee contract formulation and interpretation for land acquisition and maintain necessary files and reports relevant to company owned and leased properties
- Develop positive working relationships with Indigenous communities near our operations
- Work with Geophysical Operations on community consultation and government permits
- Coordinate and manage positive relations with all stakeholders, including managing participant involvement and public consultation programs
- Provide direction for area Surface Land Administrators on acquisition status and registration
What You Bring to the Role:
- 2+ years of direct or related experience with relevant post-secondary education
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license is required
- Knowledge of British Columbia freehold acquisition and crown land permitting processes
- Excellent communications skills (research, writing, listening, two-way dialogue and relationship skills) are required
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essential
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage tight deadlines, learn quickly and work independently
- Experience in planning, organizing, and implementing strategies, programs and activities would be an asset

Note: This is a BC based position – the salary range is estimated to be between $91,280 – $ 114,100.
