We are recruiting a Supports and Services Supervisor to ensure the provision of high-quality support to people supported in Accommodations Services based upon Personal Outcome Measures and Basic Assurances as the measurement tools. This position will provide leadership and supervision, through coaching and mentoring in a team environment for staff working in the Accommodation Services Division.

The Supervisor will need to be creative and dedicated to the development of individual staff and staffing teams, as well as a change champion ensuring Empower Simcoe philosophy and culture of support for each individual supported. This position will be accountable for the performance of frontline staff within Accommodation Services and will need to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all people supported, employees, students, volunteers and visitors. This is a six (6) month contract position.

Compensation package:

  • Work up to 37.5 hours per week
  • Minimum starting rate of $37.16 per hour
  • 11 statutory holidays are observed, with public holiday pay

Minimum requirements of this position include:

  • Degree or diploma in developmental services or a closely related field; or a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities, as determined by the employer
  • A minimum of two (2) years recent full-time supervisory experience in a social services environment
  • Previous supervisory experience in an accommodation services program will be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to apply leadership and supervisory principles in an ever-changing environment, including effective delegation, motivation and development of staff, conflict resolution and crisis management
  • Working knowledge of the Council on Quality and Leadership values with the proven ability to convert the Personal Outcome Measures and Basic Assurances into operational practices at all sites
  • Knowledge of the Quality Assurance Measures Act, Ministry of Labour regulations, Occupational Health and Safety Act

Special factors:

  • Being prepared to work flexible hours as required
  • Participate in a 24 hour per day, seven day per week on-call system on a rotational basis
  • Current, valid certificates in First Aid/CPR and NVCI is required
  • A valid G class driver's license and own reliable transportation is required

Duties and responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Monitoring programs and sites in relation to quality and dignity of support being provided by staff and ensuring effective, timely response to changing needs of individuals
  • Collaborating in a team environment with other Supports and Services Supervisors, as well as with the Supports and Services Managers to ensure supports and services are provided effectively
  • Providing ongoing formal and informal supervision of staff, including effective coaching and mentoring
  • Effectively managing crisis situations and successfully identifying, analyzing, and solving problems
  • Ensuring the timely completion of support documentation, including, but not limited to: Individual Support Plan, Personalized Supports, Health and Safety, Financial Audits, Rights Assessments, etc.
  • Conducting performance appraisals with staff in a timely and professional manner, and addressing performance concerns with staff effectively
  • Providing training and regular monitoring of all employees regarding all legislative compliance requirements and acts, including, but not limited to: Social Inclusion Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ministry of Labour Regulations, Fire Compliance Regulations, etc.
  • Being present on sites that they are responsible for, including evenings and weekends as scheduled
