Job Profile
What you will be doing
- Prepares and implements the daily, weekly, monthly, and annual operations and maintenance schedules/contracts for corporate facilities including but not limited to janitorial services, access control, security systems, snow removal/landscaping. Inspects work to ensure quality of work and compliance with contract or other specifications.
- Provides program support in recreational facilities centres including day-to-day pool operations in all indoor/outdoor pools regulated under OReg 565: Public Pools, arts centres, and older adult facilities
- Oversees general maintenance work and will integrate the Maximo CMMS program for operations, including flooring, painting, carpentry, mechanical/electrical equipment, office relocations, and roofing repairs.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop service level agreements for various buildings throughout the City’s portfolio. Manage adherence to the levels of service in order to standardize maintenance practices and enhance customer experience.
- Administers security programming within all corporate facilities, including Corporate access control (card reader and key management) and security systems.
- Monitors expenses and budget accounts for the Department, prepares monthly forecast and deviation reports, attends budget meetings to provide information and respond to inquiries.
- Supervises staff, guides, and evaluates performance of staff and other resources. Evaluates operational results and seeks continual efficiency improvements. Demonstrates continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and improvements to customer service.
- Prepares budget estimates, and, in conjunction with Purchasing staff, requests for proposals and tender reports pertaining to building related repair, maintenance and renovation works including operating and capital repair works. Makes decisions regarding building operation, maintenance and repair needs. Estimates labour and material costs and prepares specifications for special contract items. Performs ongoing contract administration for maintenance and repair contract works.
- Assist Manager of Civic and Recreation Facilities to prepare reports to City Council, General Committee and Management Committee concerning operational issues.
- Ensure employees work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, regulations and Corporate Health and Safety Policies and Procedures. Maintains knowledge of and works in compliance with the provisions of OReg 565: Public Pools, fire and electrical codes, and the Building Code. Takes every reasonable precaution to aid in the protection of employees, on-site contractors, and the general public. Makes efforts to ensure that the impact of maintenance and repair activities on building occupants and visitors is minimized to the extent practical.
- Lead the Facility Emergency Response processes as the Chief Warden and facilitates fire drills and other emergency management for facilities under their supervision.
- In the event of implementation of the City of Cambridge Emergency Plan, acts as a member of the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and follows specific duties and responsibilities as set out in the Emergency Plan. The position will require on-call and after-hours work as required.
Education
- Three-year college diploma related to Architecture, Construction Engineering Technology, Facilities Management or equivalent.
- Completion of recognized Recreation Facilities certificates, which may include Certified Pool Operators, Certified Aquatics Technician, Certified Recreation Facilities Professional or equivalent.
- Successful completion of Facility Management Professional designation, or equivalent is an asset.

Your compensation
- Annual salary range of $94,039 to $114,678 (Non-Union Salary Grid, Level 5)

- Enrolment in Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS).
