What this role is all about:
As a department Supervisor, you play an important role in the Grand Forks branch achieving the organization’s strategic goals and promoting our corporate vision. Reporting to the AVP, Retail Banking, you’ll supervise and manage a group of Member Service Representatives, including Tellers and FSR roles.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining a high performing group of employees dedicated to member services. You will manage the day-to-day operations and scheduling of employee activities and professional development ensuring an appropriate balance between member needs and operational efficiency. As the Supervisor and team lead, you will model the conduct, work habits and productivity consistent with the delivery of member centric solutions in the timeliest and cost-effective manner possible. Through training, coaching and directing day to day Teller and FSR activities, you will provide the clarity and focus essential to the achievement of the department’s mandated goals and objectives.
As a member of the management team, you will participate and contribute to the achievement of our strategic objectives and operational goals. You will act as advisor in your areas of expertise while participating in a variety of related activities including operational planning and budgeting, human resources development and management and enterprise risk management
This position is temporary for 12 months and is based out of our Grand Forks branch.

Promote Products and Services and Meet Member Needs:
- Effectively manage the delivery of day-to-day teller banking services and member service through continuous review of results, clarification of member needs and adaptation while ensuring the achievement of service standards, internal and external audit standards and regulatory compliance.
- Keep abreast of new developments in the retail banking services industry and maintain current knowledge of teller and FSR member relationship management practices, referral and consultative sales techniques.
- Participate in the planning of promotions and campaigns including the identification of opportunities and development of tactical plans.
- Work in partnership with the ABMs, consult and support one another on day-to-day activities and short and long-term planning.
Teamwork, Productivity and a Positive Attitude:
- Ensure qualified employees are hired and retained by identifying the need for internal and/or external recruitment
- Provide continual staff training on current and changing requirements and managing employee development and succession planning.
- Ensure staff are appropriately scheduled and organized to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency.
- In consultation with senior management and staff, maintain position descriptions, standards of performance and personal development plans for each of your direct reports - Consistent and effective application/use of the Credit Union’s personnel policies, practices and collective agreement.
- In consultation with your immediate Supervisor/Manager and Human Resources consultants, provide appropriate, warranted and reasonable performance correction and/or corrective or progressive discipline as required.
- Hold regular staff meetings to keep your staff informed and engaged in department goals and objectives and kept current on policies, procedures and best practices.
- As an expert in your field, act as teller and member service team lead and advisor to the management team and staff - Collaborate with other managers and staff to achieve a balanced assignment of resources and a coordinated approach.
- Establish and maintain liaison Credit Union system contacts, vendors, suppliers and represent the Credit Union as required.
- Assume selected duties of other management colleagues in their absence.
- Other related duties as assigned.
A little about your qualifications:
- Secondary School Diploma plus a minimum 2 years of formal post-secondary education which may include the following:
- 2-year Diploma in Finance, Business Administration or Business Management, completion of CU Source Fellowship Program (FCUIC).
- Minimum of four years’ experience in supervisory management in a business setting preferably in a Credit Union environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in employee recruitment and performance management.
- Demonstrated proficiency working in a team environment with shared duties and responsibilities.
- Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving, time management skills and the ability to prioritize a set of conflicting demands.
- Meet deadlines and exercise sound judgement.
- Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
What you’ll gain:
- Competitive base salary; reviewed annually. The salary range for this position is $87,100 - $96,800.
