About the role
As a Structural Engineer at Babcock, you will play a key role in an integrated product team delivering engineering support for the Defence High Frequency Communications System and other related projects.
You will be responsible for performing structural analysis, acceptance testing, certification, and troubleshooting across a variety of steel and concrete structures.
You will also contribute to the design and assessment of structures, including steel lattice towers, guyed structures, and concrete foundations, as well as floor, wall, and roof loadings.
This position will occasionally involve interstate travel, providing opportunities to work across diverse environments and challenges.
About you
You are a qualified Structural Engineer with a strong background in structural analysis and design, ideally with experience in steel lattice or similar large-scale structures.
Your technical expertise is matched by your ability to apply engineering principles across the full lifecycle of a project, from initial assessment through to corrective procedures and compliance assurance.
You are comfortable working within formal engineering documentation systems and take pride in producing clear, accurate, and high-quality outputs.
With a proactive approach, you are always seeking opportunities for improvement, whether that be in processes, designs, or safety practices.
To be successful in this position you will bring:
- Previous experience, ideally in RF Transmission towers within a Defence environment
- Demonstrated Structural Engineering experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of AS 4100, AS 3600, AS 3995 and AS 1170
- Demonstrated experience in design of preventative/corrective maintenance of guyed steel lattice structures with concrete foundations
- Well established verbal and written communication skills, with ability to engage with all business stakeholders
- An understanding of the Defence Capability Life Cycle is also desirable
