This SME role is positioned within the program's cross-functional structure and will report into the Business Lead. The Crew Payroll SME will ensure that pay-related implications of new workflows and systems are fully understood, validated, and implemented in alignment with contractual obligations, compliance frameworks, and financial systems.

This role serves as the organization’s subject matter lead for all crew pay-related matters within the scope of the project. • Provide input into change management, communication, and training plans specific to payroll impacts.
  • Develop documentation and traceability for payroll logic changes to support compliance, audit, and sustainability.
  • Escalate payroll-related risks or gaps and work with cross-functional partners to mitigate.
  • Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy.
Behavioural Competencies:
  • Concern for Safety: Identifying hazardous or potentially hazardous situations and taking appropriate action to maintain a safe environment for self and others.
  • Teamwork: Working collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goals.
  • Passenger/Customer Service: Providing service excellence to internal and/or external customers (passengers).
  • Initiative: Dealing with situations and issues proactively and persistently, seizing opportunities that arise.
  • Results Focus: Focusing efforts on achieving high quality results consistent with the organization’s standards.
  • Fostering Communication: Listening and communicating openly, honestly, and respectfully with different audiences, promoting dialogue and building consensus.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in airline crew payroll, payroll systems, or compensation operations.
  • Deep understanding of FOAG / collective agreements, payroll regulations, and integration with crew scheduling/HR systems.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating on systems or process transformation efforts involving payroll or timekeeping.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret complex pay rules into system logic.
  • Familiarity with payroll software, ERP platforms, or timekeeping systems in an airline context.
  • Experience with implementation or upgrade of crew scheduling systems (e.g., Jeppesen, Sabre, AIMS, LH Systems, CAE, NavBlue,) HRIS, or payroll systems (e.g., SAP, Workday).
