The Social Worker II - Adult Psychiatry on Unit 45 at Rockyview General Hospital provides a range of social work services to patients and their families in an adult acute inpatient mental health setting. The Social Worker will be responsible for advanced level assessment and counselling services to patients and families dealing with complex mental health and physical health issues and complex family dynamics. This involves providing patients and families with illness adjustment counselling, support with elevated stress related to a change in functioning, healing and coping and co-facilitation of group therapy in collaboration with the interdisciplinary mental health team. The Social Worker II will be involved in the provision of services to patients and families, which includes psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, complex discharge planning, patient/family decision making, assisting with capacity assessments and trusteeship/guardianship applications, financial assessments, education, treatment, advocacy, resource finding, consultation, making appropriate referrals both internal and external, liaising with community agencies/programs, and obtaining requisite financial supports and accommodation not under the purview of Transition Services. You will be a key player in Advance Care Planning, which includes legal processes related to alternate decision-making. You will also be expected to demonstrate decision-making, critical thinking, organization and conflict resolution skills; excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with patients, families, team members and other stakeholders; establish rapport with patients, patient advocacy and patient and family-centred care; show initiative and independence; be adaptable and flexible in a changing environment, and foster positive relationships in a team environment.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Experience as a Social Worker providing assessment and counselling to adults with mental health and addictions in a community or hospital setting within the last 3 years. Authorization to perform psychosocial interventions. Experience supporting patients with financial and housing application processes and resources. Experience performing suicide risk assessments, mental status examinations, and mental health interviews. Experience with diverse populations, including the ability to work with potentially aggressive patients. Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and SCM. Demonstrated knowledge of the Alberta Mental Health Act, Adult Guardianship and Trustee Act, and other governing standards/legislation for practice. Comprehensive knowledge of the mental health and addictions continuum of care and community resources. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:
Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification within the last 2 years. Training and experience in group therapy modalities. Experience facilitating group therapy, including psycho-educational groups. Experience and/or training in family interventions. Experience working with clients with concurrent mental illness and addiction concerns. Participation in professional development and/or working groups, committees or quality improvement initiatives.
