The Inpatient Social Worker in the Child and Youth Program at RVH supports the Child and Youth Mental Health Inpatient Unit, while also providing cross coverage for other areas of the Mental Health and Addictions Program at RVH as needed. The Inpatient unit is an 8-bed regional program supporting children and youth under the age of 18 who are experiencing acute mental health crisis. This program serves children and adolescents requiring admission for assessment and short-term stabilization of urgent mental health problems. The Social Worker participates as an integral member of the multidisciplinary health care team in the provision of patient care providing comprehensive psychosocial assessments, psychotherapy with individuals and their families and discharge planning including coordination with community resources for follow up treatment.
As a qualified candidate you will have the following job requirements:
- Master of Social Work degree from an accredited School of Social Work - mandatory
- Registration with Ontario College of Certified Social Workers/Social Services Workers - mandatory
- Experience providing psychotherapy to youth and parents - mandatory
- Progressive clinical experience in a health care setting with experience on a Child and Youth Mental Health Inpatient Unit - mandatory
- Sound knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act and an understanding of the DSM IV
