Site Quality Assurance Leader

Reporting to VP of Quality Assurance, Director of Quality Assurance, Quality Assurance program Lead– Site Quality Assurance Leader is responsible to perform day to day management of quality assurance activities in our manufacturing plants in addition to supervising a team of QA Technicians all within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

Primary Responsibilities
- Manages/Leads QA Techs across all 3 shifts ensuring that tasks are conducted consistently, efficiently and meet the needs of the business.
- Works with all levels of management in providing expertise, guidance, recommendations and leadership as it pertains to QA activities.
- Understands and fulfills the duties of a leader for the following programs within the production area:Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), all food safety programs, all health & safety programs, all FGF policies, programs or procedures.
- Conduct Risk Assessment for all Quality related non-conformities and work on solving the most critical items.
- Responsible to conduct Management review meetings to evaluate monthly, quarterly and annually the overall performance of the implementation of BRC standard and the Food safety Management system.
- Responsible to ensure that the Food safety/ HACCP Plan remains current for their site and any changes will be reviewed by Food Safety/ HACCP team.
- Takes lead on executing various initiatives to improve any food safety and quality related non conformances.
- Maintains, updates and ensures consistent execution of current QA programs and internal standard operating procedures.
- Conducts regular reviews of all sanitation and maintenance records/procedures for accuracy and follow up on necessary changes.
- Assists with QA and cross functional SOP development and ensure that facility SOPs and related documents are in correct format, properly stored in share point.
- Ensures pest control program is being maintained and liaise with operations to ensure all regulatory items are met and any recommendation and corrective action are followed up on timely manner.
- Conducts annual trainings with production and cross functional teams as per training schedule.
- Responsible to provide training to new QA technicians on quality policies, internal SOP and Quality management system.
- Responsible to conduct food safety management control any non-conforming product, raw materials, packaging material or equipment that does not meet customer/internal specifications, regulatory requirements by placing it on hold physically and in OMS system.
- Leads GMP and BRC program updates, maintenance, verifications and function as a cross functional liaison to ensure plant is meeting regulatory and compliance requirements for all stakeholders.
- Assists with development and delivery of Quality and Food Safety training for manufacturing and support teams.
- Ensures third party test samples are collected and submitted as per quarterly micro schedule and follow up if there is any deviation.
- Assists cross-functional team in completing food safety and customer complaint investigation and corrective actions.
- Participates in internal audit and third-party audit process to ensure compliance with the requirement of BRC standard and Food Safety plan. Responsible to execute corrective and preventative actions from the audits in timely manner.
- Responsible to prepare trending/ summary reports to analyze any non-conformities
- Responsible to review all the required documents during commissioning of new equipment /Vehicle are meeting standards and ensure complete review of the process to identify any associated with the process and update HACCP accordingly.
- Responsible for validating of the control measure combinations and/or ensuring appropriate documents are available.
- Conducts monthly inspections of entire facility including exterior areas, outline deviations, corrective action and assign to relevant teams.
- Scheduling and conducting monthly GMP, internal and external audits with cross-functional team. Assist cross-functional team completing food safety incidents and investigating customer complaints.
Required Experience
- A minimum of 2 years team/quality leadership experience in a manufacturing environment is required
- Experience with Food Safety - HACCP, CCP's, GMP's
- Experience with BRC, AIB or other North American audit programs
- Experience and / or education in continuous improvement, six sigma or lean manufacturing is highly desirable
- Postsecondary education in a relevant field (preferably Biology or Food Science) is highly preferred
- Strong leadership and team building skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent MS Office skills
- Food manufacturing experience preferred
