Description:

An introduction to formal deductive logic. Semantics, symbolization, and techniques of natural deduction in sentential logic. Symbolization, natural deduction, and models in monadic predicate logic. Symbolization and natural deduction with polyadic predicates. Introduction to advanced concepts in first-order logic, such as operations, identity, and models.

The following position for a Sessional Lecturer is available in the Department of Philosophy for the Fall 2025 academic session. Salary:
$9,820.70 (Sessional Lecturer 1) includes 4% vacation pay
$10,510.04 (Sessional Lecturer 1 – Long Term) includes 6% vacation pay
$10,510.04 (Sessional Lecturer 2) includes 6% vacation pay
$10,760.28 (Sessional Lecturer 2 – Long Term) includes 6% vacation pay
$10,760.28 (Sessional Lecturer 3) includes 6% vacation pay
$11,030.36 (Sessional Lecturer 3 – Long Term) includes 6% vacation pay


Should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates in the collective agreement shall prevail.


Schedule:

Monday 5:00 - 7:00 P.M.

Wednesday 6:00 - 7:00 P.M.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in-hand, preferably in philosophy.
  • Prior experience as a course instructor, preferably in Philosophy at U of T.
  • Advanced prior knowledge of the subject-matter of the course and topic-related teaching experience.
  • Related research and a record of research achievement is considered an asset to this position.


Duties and responsibilities:
All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.


Appointment Dates: September 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025

All positions involve completion of any course grading not already finished by December, 2025.
