The Toronto Cricket Club is looking for a 12-month contract Server to join our Food & Beverage department. This role will be responsible for positive member interactions and ensuring exceptional dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend to members upon entrance, present menus and assist members in selecting food/beverage, suggest courses, explain the chef’s specialties, identify appropriate wine, respond to food preparation and other questions
- Transmit orders to the bar and kitchen by recording member’s orders and identifying members special dietary needs, restrictions, and special requests
- Serve and deliver orders, accompaniments, and condiments from bar and kitchen
- Respond to additional member requirements by inquiring and observing dining process
- Maintain table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, and being alert to other special needs
- Promptly address members service issues and refer members to management when necessary
- Perform cleaning and preparation tasks, such as polishing and preparing cutlery, emptying garbage bins, sweeping and cleaning floors, cleaning freezers, fridges, and other equipment, etc.
- Protect the club and members by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies
- Stay updated on current menu choices, specials, and menu changes
- Works in compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and any safety policies and procedures set out by the Club
- Conduct self in alignment with the Well Played service model (Prompt, Personalized, Polite) to support member services and respect in the workplace
- Completion of high school or equivalent required
- Food Handler’s certification and Smart Serve certification required
- At least one year of serving experience in hospitality-related industry required
- Must have basic knowledge of Safety and Sanitation Regulations
- Must have knowledge related to the food and beverage menus
- Advanced knowledge of the POS Systems
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to respond to member complaints and collaborate with others
- Must have flexible availability, including weeknights, weekends, and statutory holidays
