About the Role
We are searching for a Senior Social Strategist whose passion for music is matched only by their expertise in social media. This role is for someone who lives and breathes music culture—from mainstream hits to niche subgenres—and understands how to translate that cultural relevance into groundbreaking social strategies. You will be a creative and strategic leader, guiding our clients to build authentic connections with fans by tapping into the cultural zeitgeist. Your deep cultural knowledge and ability to decode the nuances of fan communities will be essential in crafting narratives that resonate, drive conversation, and solidify our clients' place at the center of the music world.
Responsibilities:
- Architect and execute innovative, "Social-First" strategies that are deeply rooted in music culture and drive client objectives.
- Serve as the team's expert on cultural intelligence, translating audience behaviors, fan culture, and emerging trends into actionable strategic insights.
- Author compelling strategic briefs that inspire creative teams to produce culturally relevant, platform-native ideas that tell a powerful story.
- Foster a highly collaborative environment, partnering with creative, production, and account teams to ensure strategic integrity and executional excellence across all content.
- Oversee the strategic development of content ecosystems and calendars, ensuring they are dynamic, timely, and aligned with the ever-shifting rhythms of the music industry and internet culture.
- Translate performance data into strategic narratives, delivering clear, insightful analysis that informs future optimizations and demonstrates campaign impact.
- Act as a cultural radar for the team, proactively identifying real-time trends, sounds, and conversations to create authentic engagement opportunities for our clients.
- Provide expert thought leadership through comprehensive audits, points-of-view, and analysis of the competitive landscape, driving innovation and strategic excellence for the team.
- Champion the adoption of emerging platforms and technologies, identifying new ways for artists and brands to connect with fans and shape music culture.
- Mentor junior team members, cultivating their strategic skills and fostering a sophisticated understanding of the social and cultural landscape.
About You
The essentials:
- 5+ years in a social media strategy role, with a proven track record of developing successful campaigns within the music industry or a related cultural sphere.
- An innate and demonstrable understanding of music culture, including a deep knowledge of artists, genres, and the dynamics of fandom. You have a finger on the pulse of what is current and what is next.
- Exceptional cultural knowledge, with an understanding of the intersecting worlds of music, fashion, art, and internet culture.
- Proven ability to translate strategic thinking into compelling creative ideas and communicate complex concepts clearly to clients and internal teams.
- Expertise in leveraging social media analytics and listening tools to extract meaningful insights that shape strategy and prove value.
- Outstanding collaborative and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and lead through influence.
- A natural problem-solver with a proactive mindset, capable of navigating the fast-paced, ambiguous nature of social media and the music industry.

What We Offer
Monks has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what Monks may pay for the position at the time of posting.
