We are looking for a passionate, experienced communications professional to drive integrated communications for our Chief AI Office. As a Senior Communications Manager in our Network & Technology Communications team, you’ll develop executive communications strategies, shape our AI narrative, drive internal engagement, and amplify TELUS' reputation for groundbreaking innovation. You will partner closely with our Chief AI Officer (CAIO) and other technology executives to articulate their vision, translating complex technical concepts into clear, compelling and accessible stories for diverse audiences.
In this role, we are looking for an innovative thinker with a strong understanding of the evolving AI landscape who can navigate and collaborate with various stakeholders, create authentic executive brand strategies, and communicate with clarity and agility to deliver exceptional programs that inform, engage, and inspire. You will also share our team’s passion for working collaboratively, shaping conversations around AI innovation and thinking outside the box to tell our story.
What you’ll do
- Provide executive communications support and strategic counsel for our CAIO. You’ll help articulate TELUS’ vision and proactively shape industry conversations through strategic opportunities
- Design and execute comprehensive external communications programming, leveraging a mix of new and traditional media, securing strategic speaking opportunities, and utilizing other key channels
- Develop and lead the social media strategy for the CAIO, including content creation, community engagement, and alignment with corporate initiatives
- Create clear, concise, and articulate written content for internal and external audiences, distilling complex technical information into compelling communications
- Lead internal engagement for the Chief AI Office through leader bulletins, all-team meetings, and utilizing platforms like Workvivo to foster a united, collaborative team environment
- Establish, monitor and report on key metrics; provide strategic recommendations to achieve campaign objectives and identify new opportunities with high ROI
- Drive innovation and creativity by looking for new ways of working, exploring best practices, emerging trends, and challenging communication channels in new and creative ways
Qualifications
What you bring
- Undergraduate degree in PR, communications or a related discipline
- Minimum 8-10 years experience in communications, public relations or journalism in a fast-paced agency or client-side environment
- Working knowledge and regular use of AI tools (Google Gemini, Notebook LM, etc)
- Strong understanding of AI and other emerging technologies, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into accessible and engaging language for various audiences.
- Proven experience working with and advising senior executives
- Experience delivering impactful communications strategies that align with corporate objectives, including presentations, training materials, toolkits and other documents
- Exceptional verbal, writing and editing skills with proven ability to deliver impactful storylines
- Strong analytical ability for performance reporting and tracking communications effectiveness
- Adaptability in rapidly-evolving environments with capacity to multi-task, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines
Great-to-haves
- Experience with Google Workspace
- Experience working with social media and influencers in the tech and AI space
Advanced knowledge of English is required because you will on a regular basis interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position's main responsibilities given its provincial scope.
