A Security Guard will act as the first-line representative to all staff, customers, and clients. A major part of the role involves deterring and protecting the retail brand and staff.
Duties:
- Responsible for the protection of people, property, facilities, and information
- Maintain surveillance of surrounding area and report suspicious activity
- Strong ability to de-escalate situations and be able to handle individuals that need to be removed from the property
- Perform detailed and diligent patrols
- Ability to handle emergency alarms in a quick manner (e.g., Fire Alarms, etc)
- Observe and report daily activities and irregularities to appropriate personnel
- Ensure that all safety and emergency procedures are followed
- Work with local police service
- Monitor CCTV Cameras
- Draft reports
Skills Required:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills while being alert and detail oriented
- Ability to exercise vigilance and multitask is required (Ability to prioritize, remain calm and multi-task under pressure in a dynamic environment)
- Ability to de-escalate
- Proficient in using technology
- Experience in proper search techniques.
- Ability to effectively generate all relevant shift reports and distribute in a timely manner
- Must be able to speak, read and write in English
The Ideal Candidate:
- Must hold and maintain valid applicable Security Guard License and First Aid & CPR Certification
- 1-year of Security experience is preferred
- Physical presence suitable to work independently
- Knowledge of the trespass to property act and Criminal Code Sec. 494
- Crisis management / Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification is preferred
