JOB SUMMARY:Within the context of a client and family centered care model and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, performs clerical/receptionist functions in the support of the delivery of client care. Duties include processing physicians’ orders by scheduling and booking client appointments, follow up visits and tests and referrals, maintaining and updating a client/patient database, retrieving data, summarizing information and preparing pre-programmed reports as directed, receiving and directing clients to appropriate areas, responding to general telephone enquires and/or directing callers to appropriate health care providers. Arranges schedules to meet changing demands/requests, assembles and maintains client charts and prepares and confirms client information, enters data into a computerized system, updates client information and arranges for client transportation as needed. Provides clerical functions such as typing a variety of technical and non-technical materials utilizing a variety of software programs. Maintains departmental equipment, supplies and filing systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:QUALIFICATIONSEducation & Experience Grade 12, graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program plus two (2) year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to type 50 wpm.Knowledge of medical terminology.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to deal with others effectively.Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.Ability to organize work.Ability to operate related equipment.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
