Choices for Youth Inc. (“Choices”) is a dynamic, progressive organization that empowers homeless and at-risk youth with innovative options and tools to move from street life to more stable, healthy living situations. CFY is currently seeking a part-time temporary Retail Supervisor to join our Neighbourhood Team.


Neighbourhood is a Choices for Youth social enterprise, and we are currently seeking a part-time temporary supervisor for our retail clothing store at 38 Pearson Street. This position will be for three (3) months, with the possibility of extension. At Neighbourhood we celebrate diversity and offer a fun, safe, inclusive workspace.


Becoming a supervisor at a Choices for Youth Social Enterprise means learning something new every day. We offer a dynamic workspace providing the opportunity to learn rewarding skills supporting the work experience of at-risk youth. The successful applicant should be comfortable working as a team leader and have exceptional communication skills.


This position offers fantastic experience for anyone looking to work in Youth Education, small business and retail, and the growing social enterprise sector.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Ensuring all shop operations and general store maintenance are being completed day end

  • Signing off on completed cash logs, deposits and approving financial transactions

  • Maintaining a positive, welcoming environment on the sales floor

  • Educating customers about our social mission

  • Managing & training our youth trainees on all aspects of retail work

  • Helping trainees connect with appropriate supports as needed

  • Communicating with the management and support teams as needed

  • Social media monitoring and customer communication


SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED


  • Strong leadership skills, comfortable making decisions and instructing; positive and upbeat personality

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Comfortable working with the public

  • 2 years’ previous retail experience required

  • Experience working with vulnerable sector considered an asset

  • Satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector check


WORK HOURS


The position will work 30-40 hours per week and flexibility in work hours will be required including evening and weekend work to accommodate family and youth schedules.


COMPENSATION


The rate of pay for this position is $19.77 per hour.
