We are seeking a passionate and experienced Restaurant General Manager to lead our operations, shape our service culture, and ensure DHOOM becomes a premier hospitality destination.
Role Overview
The Restaurant General Manager is the operational and cultural leader of DHOOM. This role oversees all day-to-day front-of-house operations, manages and mentors staff, drives business performance, and ensures every guest interaction reflects DHOOM’s premium brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee full-service operations across two shifts (brunch and dinner/bar).
- Maintain smooth service transitions between shifts, ensuring consistency in quality and guest experience.
- Implement and enforce SOPs for FOH service, guest handling, reservations, and floor management.
- Coordinate closely with the kitchen and bar leadership for seamless execution of menus and promotions.
Team Management
- Hire, onboard, train, and mentor all FOH managers, supervisors, and service staff.
- Conduct daily team briefings and pre-shift meetings to communicate goals, specials, and service notes.
- Maintain a culture of accountability, positivity, and hospitality excellence.
- Manage scheduling, attendance tracking, and performance evaluations.
Financial & Compliance Oversight
- Track and manage P&L statements, labor cost efficiency, and inventory control.
- Oversee payroll via Toast Payroll & Team Management.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations (ESA, WSIB, AODA, liquor licensing, health & safety).
- Monitor vendor contracts and ensure cost-effective purchasing.
Guest Experience
- Actively engage on the floor during peak hours, greeting guests and handling escalations personally.
- Implement guest feedback tracking systems through OpenTable, Google reviews, and social media.
- Build relationships with VIP guests, influencers, and local media personalities to enhance brand visibility.
Marketing & Events Collaboration
- Partner with marketing for special events, seasonal menu rollouts, and promotional campaigns.
- Assist in planning and executing soft launch, PR events, and VIP previews.
- Work with the Guest Experience Manager to personalize service for high-value guests.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years in a GM or senior FOH leadership role in a high-volume or upscale dining environment.
- Proven track record of increasing guest satisfaction and driving profitability.
- Strong financial acumen and experience with restaurant P&L management.
- Proficient in Toast POS, OpenTable, and Google Workspace.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- SmartServe certification (or willing to obtain before start date).
Employment Terms
- Full-time salaried position with performance-based incentives.
- The GM is expected to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
