The Resident Care Manager (RCM) embodies the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization in every interaction with staff, patients, residents, and families. Central to this role is the commitment to resident-centered care, working collaboratively to identify individualized care goals, align resources effectively, and foster strong partnerships among residents, families, and the care team. In close collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Educator, and other site leadership, the RCM provides coaching, mentoring, and clinical support to staff, particularly around complex clinical decision-making. The RCM holds a direct supervisory responsibility for unionized staff within their unit(s) or departments, managing performance discussions and initiating disciplinary actions when necessary. The role is pivotal in supporting both unit-level and organizational change, encouraging open dialogue among staff, and addressing issues that impact unit operations. The RCM leads or actively participates in setting program performance expectations, defining unit-specific goals, and developing clinical standards. They ensure compliance with established clinical guidelines and organizational policies. The RCM also liaises regularly with other hospital units and departments to resolve operational challenges, promote teamwork, boost staff morale, and maintain open, transparent communication. Responsibilities include overseeing recruitment, managing staff abilities, addressing attendance concerns, conducting annual performance appraisals, and working professionally and collaboratively with union representatives. This position is non-unionized.
