Research Project Manager (Knowledge Translation)

Dr. Theresa Pauly welcomes applications for the role of Research Project Manager (Knowledge Translation focus) for her New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF)-supported 3-year study: “A Comprehensive Approach to Enhance Older Adults’ Preparedness for Extreme Heat.”

In the context of escalating climate change, extreme heat events are becoming more frequent and severe, disproportionately threatening older adults’ health and wellbeing. This international project (Canada, Israel, UK) uses smartphones, wearable technologies, and photovoice methodologies to explore how older adults experience and cope with heat, while also engaging community organizations and service providers to strengthen local heat resilience.

The primary focus of this position is knowledge translation. The Research Project Manager will take a lead role in planning and coordinating a major knowledge translation event in the project’s final year, bringing together older adults, community partners, policymakers, and researchers. They will also support ongoing dissemination activities, ensuring project findings are translated into meaningful, accessible, and actionable outputs for diverse stakeholders. In addition, the position involves administrative project management tasks under the direction of the Principal Investigator.

Terms & Compensation:

· 25 hours/week (71% FTE)

· 1-year term position with 3-month probation period, renewable by mutual agreement

· Start date: Oct 1st, 2025 (flexible)

· Wage: $27-30.00/hr

· Vacation: 2 weeks/year, based on part-time hours

Work Location:

· Hybrid-eligible

· Some work onsite at SFU’s Vancouver Harbour Centre campus (515 West Hastings) is required

· Some work at home is possible, if preferred

Job Duties:

• Lead planning and coordination of knowledge translation; create accessible outputs (e.g., visual communications, booklets, flyers)
• Manage project communications including email, newsletter, website, and social media.
• Liaise with internal and external COPE project partners, community organizations, and service providers to share findings and co-develop tools and strategies.
• Organize and document meetings, workshops, and collaborative activities; oversee budget tracking, reporting, staffing, records, and regulatory documentation.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, and community partners; provide training and support on essential project components.
• Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator to support smooth project operations.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (Psychology, Gerontology, Health Sciences, …)
• Strong aptitude for structuring tasks, managing time effectively, and maintaining order amidst multiple responsibilities
• Proficiency in utilizing various digital tools, software, and platforms relevant to the position's requirements (e.g., Powerpoint and Excel).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively, maintain an overview of various ongoing projects, and ensure timely completion of assignments
• Ability to work productively and respectfully with faculty members, research assistants, and other community members

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $27.00-$30.00 per hour
