About Us
Within the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, our interdisciplinary research team focuses on conducting population health research on the links between chronic conditions, hospital encounters, and mortality and how they are affected by social determinants of health, health-related behaviours, and environmental risk factors. We also conduct studies to better understand the link between climate change and various health outcomes among Canadians residing in large urban areas. The Research Associate will apply their expertise and knowledge to CIHR-funded projects in one of these areas and will work closely with members of our research team.
Responsibilities
Please note: This position is expected to be filled internally.
The Research Associate will apply their expertise and knowledge to support our current CIHR-funded projects by carrying out original and independent research, in collaboration with the project team members. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for conducting scoping and systematic reviews and for preparing academic manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. The incumbent must have experience working in one of the substantive areas related to our program of research and must submit a sample of their own academic writing with their application.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (or near completion) in a relevant area of research;
- Minimum two years of experience conducting research in population health and/or social and environmental determinants of health;
- Knowledge of publication processes with demonstrated expertise in contributing to, and writing peer-reviewed publications with superior writing skills;
- Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary, international team environment;
- Detail-oriented with an ability to process information with high levels of accuracy;
- Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work;
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to document technical information.
