Position Summary

The Research Assistant will support the research activities of the Principal Investigator and research team by contributing to the execution of research projects. The main research project that the Research Assistant would be involved in is called “Navigating the Generosity of Donated Medicines”. The donation of medicines are a common relief effort undertaken after natural and environmental disasters (e.g. wildfires). However, the concept that ‘any donation is a good donation’ often does more harm than good. Inappropriate donations of medicines can put an unneeded burden on the recipient country, requiring them to sort, manage, store, and dispose of expired and inappropriate medicines. The donation of unwanted or inappropriate pharmaceutical items is a global issue and wastes valuable environmental and health resources. Pharmaceuticals also pose a significant environmental risk by impacting animals and the ecosystem.

The Research Assistant role involves a range of tasks, including data collection, data entry and management, literature reviews, and assisting with the preparation of reports and presentations. The Research Assistant will work collaboratively in a hybrid format with team members to ensure the efficient and accurate completion of research objectives.
