Position Summary
Volatus Aerospace is seeking a skilled and motivated Remote RPAS Pilot (Operations Control Center Operator) to join our team at our state-of-the-art Operations Control Center (OCC). As part of our central hub for Remotely Piloted Aircraft operations, you will remotely manage and execute drone missions using advanced ground control systems and real-time situational awareness data. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of our RPAS fleet.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe movement of departing and landing RPA’s
- Conduct logistics missions
- Review and analyze flight missions
- Perform pre-flight, in flight and post-flight system checks and procedures
- Communicate effectively on Aviation Band with general aviation
- Use radar communication to track RPA flights
- Coordinate with public safety agencies (firefighters, police, paramedics, emergency response team)
- Maintain accurate flight logs, mission reports, and OCC records.
- Assist with mission planning, including route design, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor weather conditions and assess their potential impact on flight safety.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with RPAS systems and escalate when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Formal RPAS Training or Certifications such as:
- RPAS Ground School
- Transport Canada Pilot Certificate - Small Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS), Visual Line-of-Sight (VLOS) - Advanced Operations
- Restricted Operator Certificate - Aeronautical (ROC-A)
- Experience operating RPAS Beyond Visual Line of Site (BVLOS)
- Experience in mission control environments is an asset.
- Knowledge of aviation weather systems and meteorology.
- Experience with mission planning software, GIS, or airspace management tools is an asset.
- Education / training in aerospace, aircraft piloting, engineering or a related field.

Hours of Work, Work Environment and Potential Travel
- Full-time, onsite at Operations Control Center (Vaughan, ON).
- Rotating shifts, as services might require 24/7 coverage, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Standard shift length: 8 hours per day.
- Predominantly a sedentary, office-based function requiring high concentration and attention to detail.
- May involve extended screen time and multi-system monitoring.
- Some travel required (approx. 10% of time) for training, testing, and field operations.
