Trauma Program

The Trauma program at London Health Sciences Centre relies on robust data driven processes to inform medical, nursing and other health care provider quality improvement initiatives, program delivery, and education. The Quality Specialist is a key member of the Trauma Program team responsible to facilitate and support continuous quality improvement in trauma. The Quality Specialist will work collaboratively with trauma program teams to identify quality improvement opportunities, derive quality improvement initiatives, implement change ideas and participate in Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA) cycles. The role will also be expected to catalyze and provide quality improvement education and best practices.

The Quality Specialist will play a key role in LHSC activities related to Trauma Verification with primary responsibilities for Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) initiatives/projects designed to ensure our trauma centre is practicing in line with evidence-based protocols, policies, and clinical guidelines to ensure patients receive the highest level of care.

Regular Full-Time

Hours of Work: 37.50 hours per week

Rate of Pay: $46.79 per hour - $58.48 per hour

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences or a related field
  • Master's Degree in Health or Business Administration, Quality and Patient Safety, or a related field; preferred
  • Current certificate of registration in good standing from a college under the Regulated Health Professions Act preferred
  • Certification in Quality Management by an accredited institution preferred
  • Lean/Six Sigma Certification preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years recent, related experience
  • Five (5) years of recent, related experience in a trauma program, preferred
  • Clinical trauma experience preferred
  • Previous clinical and/or surgical experience considered an asset
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, organizational, conceptual and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work in a team environment
  • A demonstrated commitment to achieving results through collaboration, in keeping with the vision, mission and values of the organization
  • Knowledge of and experience with patient safety analysis techniques
  • Advanced facilitation and negotiation skillsDemonstrated strong analytical, organizational, conceptual and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation skills
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of quality improvement concepts with emphasis on systems improvement, continuous quality improvement
  • Demonstrated excellence in identifying data needs to support decision-making and in determining appropriate data sources
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Basic statistical knowledge preferred
  • Experience with CERNER Electronic Health Record preferred
  • Demonstrated computer literacy including Microsoft Office Suite and corporate productivity tools
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, Purpose, and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
