Job Overview:
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for overseeing operational quality assurance, ensuring that cannabis products produced meet the organization's objectives for quality and safety, as well as regulatory and customer requirements. The Quality Assurance Manager is also responsible for establishing and monitoring internal Quality Management Systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as primary QAP on the license.
- Manage and develop the quality assurance/quality control department.
- Develop, review, and maintain controlled documents, including SOPs.
- Oversee implementation of SOPs and develop training programs related to SOP implementation.
- Ensuring process and procedures comply with GPPs.
- Oversee the sanitation of premises, equipment cleanliness, and the hygienic behavior of personnel.
- Develop and perform internal audits regularly to determine quality assurance compliance.
- Ensure traceability of cannabis plants and products, conduct annual mock recall.
- Oversee calibration of equipment and instruments.
- Ensure cannabis is stored and distributed under conditions that maintain its quality.
- Maintain QA control documentation.
- Identify relevant QA training needs and opportunities.
- Complete validations for all cleaning and sanitation activities within production.
- Participate in audits and inspections, prepare responses to observations, and perform all necessary corrective actions.
- Oversee vendor qualifications as well as Environmental monitoring program.
- Monitor changes in regulatory framework for Cannabis Act Regulation as per Public Health Canada.
- Facilitate or ensure testing on each lot or batch of cannabis, ensure that testing is conducted using validated methods, investigate deviations and out-of-spec results.
- Oversee label approvals process and batch release for various contract manufacturing services as well as for Galaxie owned products.
- Oversee and manage all product quality-related issues including customer complaints, adverse reactions and serious adverse reactions
- Conduct risk assessments and develop preventive control program.
- Perform analysis of reports and production data to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures when necessary.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance throughout the facility.
- Develop and manages a Corrective Actions Preventive Actions (CAPA) program to ensure appropriate responses to deviations, non-conformances, or audit observations.
- Create and manage NCR reports, deviation reports, and recall simulation reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences/Pharmacy/Food or post-secondary diploma in science related technical discipline.
- Prior experience in a leadership role in Quality Assurance – pharmaceutical or Cannabis experience is preferred.
- Prior experience leading quality teams.
- Prior approval by Health Canada in the role of Quality Assurance Person or Alternate is preferred.
- Active Health Canada security clearance is required.
- Experience with an organization regulated by HACCP Canada, or experience in a similarly regulated environment (GMP, GACP, GPP) is required.
- Knowledge of the Cannabis Act and other cannabis regulations is an asset.
- Ability to adapt to new technology.

- Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- High level of integrity and work ethic.
