About the role.
The Purchasing Clerk is responsible for ordering materials, supplies, and equipment into the Stockroom.
What you’ll be doing.
- Order and expedite maintenance, repair, and operation supplies from existing vendors for the facility.
- Report concerns to the Stockroom Supervisor on issues that may affect smooth operation of department (i.e. delivery delays, product out of stock situations, errors in delivery etc.)
- Update existing database/reports to keep track of cost savings and the status of all purchasing initiatives.
- Contribute to and report on cost improvements and departmental measurable.
- Maintain a neat and organized workspace.
- Comply with EMS requirements, H&S rules and practices, McCain policies, procedures and practices and ensure organized and clean plant facilities.
- Participate in ongoing training programs as required to maintain and enhance skills.
- Adheres to the standards and rules described in the Employee Handbook.
- Cooperate in dealings with all co-workers and is committed to continuous improvement.
- Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstration and sharing functional/technical knowledge.
- Relieve Stockroom when required, which consists of unloading/loading, receiving in SAP, etc.
- Make runs to Lethbridge when/if required.
What you’ll need to be successful.
- One to two years of previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in an inventory stores position or purchasing role.
- Proficient in communication: Phone and Email.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize efficiently using effective time management and organizational skills.
- Able to exercise good judgment in making decisions.
- Must have proven history of safe work habits.
- Parts experience is an asset.
- Physically capable of performing job duties.
- High School Graduate.
- Able to work in a high humidity, high temperature work environment.
- Demonstrate experience and understanding of SAP and COUPA.
- Experienced with the safe handling of chemicals in accordance with WHMIS.
- Must have valid Driver’s License with clean driver abstract.
- Must be able to drive Forklift.
- Have completed or be willing to complete Forklift and Transportation of Dangerous Goods training course.
- Must have strong communication skills, ability to follow detailed instructions, and be able to maintain good working relationships with Supervision and coworkers as well as ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Mathematical ability to perform basic calculations.
- Must be willing to work in a team-based atmosphere.
- Physically capable of performing all required duties including some lifting up to 50lbs.
- Physically capable of climbing stairs multiple times per day.

Compensation Package: - Starting at30.72 CAD hourly + Bonus eligibility + Hourly Pay Differential for applicable shifts
