Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Instructor to join our team. The PSW Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and training to students pursuing a career as Personal Support Worker. The instructor will teach theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and professional standards required for providing care to clients in diverse settings. The role also involves mentoring students, evaluating their progress, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and curriculum standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and meet the diverse needs of students.
- Deliver high-quality instruction in a clear and engaging manner, utilizing various teaching methods to enhance learning.
- Assess student performance through assignments, tests, and observations, providing constructive feedback to support their growth.
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation, collaboration, and respect among students.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and assessments.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to promote a supportive educational community.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational best practices.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Certification as a Personal Support Worker (PSW) or equivalent may be required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as a PSW or in a related healthcare role.
- Previous teaching or training experience is preferred.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including seniors and individuals with disabilities.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of PSW practices, healthcare standards, and relevant legislation (e.g., Ontario’s PSW Program Standards).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students.
- Proficiency in using technology for teaching (e.g., learning management systems, virtual classrooms).
- Other Requirements:
- Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00-$30.00 per hour
