Promotion Coordinator / Announcer - Vernon, BC
Vista Radio has a rare opportunity for the right community minded person for the role of Promotion Coordinator / Announcer based in Vernon, BC.
The candidate must be available Monday to Friday, mostly daytime hours in and out of the office with the flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as required by events.
We are looking for someone who can represent our brands in an energetic, responsible, and professional manner. Reporting to the Promotions Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing promotions for our station in the North Okanagan.
As Promotion Coordinator, duties include but not limited to:
- Work with the Promotion Director and Programming to create and deliver a variety of on-air, online, and street level promotions.
- Collaborate with the sales team to create revenue opportunities, including promotion proposals for clients and partners.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations and charities.
- Execute on-air and online contests, liaise with contest winners and manage prizing inventory.
- Copywriting for on-air features and websites.
- Creating content for social media and updating station websites.
- Planning all on site activations to ensure effective branding of stations on location.
- Attend station and client events as required including set up & tear down of equipment and technical broadcast gear.
- Participate in weekly meetings and brainstorms.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Promotions Director.
- Prepare and host regional SUMMIT radio show from 2pm to 6pm weekdays.
- Be involved in programming initiatives across multiple markets. (promotions/contests/partnerships, on-site events, etc.) for the station.
- Voice tracking additional shifts for other dayparts or stations as required.
- Voicing commercials for various Vista properties as assigned and as needed.
- Participate in weekly team meetings
- Experience in Marketing, Events and/or Broadcasting and Media in a professional setting.
- On-air host experience.
- Excellent time management and organization skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite & Google Docs.
- Strong Social Media skills.
- Basic Photoshop or Canva knowledge.
- Basic working familiarity with Adobe Audition.
- Previous experience in web content management systems is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and clean driving abstract.
- Ability to work prolonged hours on your feet and lift 50lbs.
- Legally qualified to work in Canada.
Your hours will primarily be office hours between 8:30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday at your base office location in Vernon with some time spent at our station in Salmon Arm. You will be expected to attend some meetings, events. This job also requires occasional weekend and evening work as needed for events. Evening and weekend work hours will be in lieu of regular weekday hours. You will receive 15 days paid vacation and will be entitled to company medical and dental benefits.
