POSITION SMMARY
Are you passionate about people, growth, and community impact? TNDC is seeking a dynamic Project Manager, Employee Development & JST (PMEJ) to lead meaningful change across our workforce and the Tahltan Nation.
In this unique role, you’ll be the voice of our employees—guiding the Joint Support Team (JST) to strengthen communication, foster trust, and ensure staff perspectives shape our future. As a mentor and development lead, you’ll drive training initiatives, support career growth, and help build a motivated, skilled team.
You’ll also lead the Tahltan Training Forum, a powerful collaboration with Dease Lake, Telegraph Creek, and Iskut to build local capacity and create lasting opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Joint Support Team (JST) Leadership
- Lead the JST and chair regular meetings.
- Represent employee interests in discussions with leadership and stakeholders.
- Coordinate JST activities and ensure alignment with employee and organizational needs.
- Communicate updates and decisions to employees.
- Support employee engagement and contribute to strategic planning.
- Training & Development
- Identify training needs through career development and performance reviews.
- Develop and implement training programs aligned with business goals.
- Coordinate functional training (e.g., HEO, apprenticeships) and oversee delivery.
- Manage training resources, budgets, and logistics.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and make improvements.
- Mentorship
- Provide guidance and support to employees as a mentor.
- Act as a role model and help develop skills and confidence.
- Connect employees with opportunities and support goal setting.
- Tahltan Training Forum Leadership
- Lead the planning and facilitation of the Tahltan Training Forum.
- Promote collaboration, learning, and knowledge sharing among communities.
- Coordinate speakers, sessions, and participant engagement.
- Grant Writing & Funding Support
- Research and apply for training-related grants.
- Prepare proposals and reports in collaboration with internal teams.
- Track deadlines, funding outcomes, and maintain accurate records.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or a related field.
- Relevant experience will be taken into consideration in lieu of degree.
- Excellent writing, editing, and research skills.
- Knowledge of the funding landscape in government / First Nation Development.
- Experience with government grant applications (e.g., federal, provincial, or local).
- Understanding of program evaluation and impact measurement.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Familiarity with fundraising databases and grant tracking tools (e.g., Salesforce, GrantHub).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Understanding of employee engagement, training, and workforce development.
- Familiarity with performance management and adult learning principles.
- Understanding of Indigenous communities and cultural context is an asset.
- Proven ability to lead, communicate effectively, and facilitation skills.
- Effective in program planning, coordination, and delivering impactful programs.
- Strong interpersonal abilities with a focus on mentorship and relationship-building.

- Capable of designing and delivering training that aligns with organizational values and strategic goals.
- Ability to write clear, compelling grant proposals and manage deadlines with attention to detail.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is carried out in both remotely with travel to various TNDC locations as required.
- Overtime as required to ensure completion of priority tasks and timely handling of issues that arise.
- May require flexible hours during high activity periods.
- Regular requirement to meet critical deadlines can cause stress.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Ability to pass a mandatory pre-access drug and alcohol screening.
- Willingness to sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
- Full disclosure of criminal record and current criminal record check.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license and willing to provide a current driver abstract.
- Willingness to work occasional overtime during peak or critical work periods
