The GO Expansion Project Delivery Office is seeking a Project Manager, Northern Corridors, with strong construction experience to manage multiple projects, in both the design and execution phases. This position requires technical expertise and project management experience in the planning, engineering, design, construction and administration of transit/rail capital infrastructure projects.
What Will I Be Doing?
- Manage project management activities on complex projects, with special focus on Systems & Safety Assurance, throughout the project management lifecycle within corporate commitments.
- Oversee day to day operations of construction activities, prepare reports and brief senior level staff of ongoing activities.
- Review and evaluate consultant studies, reports, design proposals, specifications and contract documents for compliance with Metrolinx policies, procedures and standards, and any other applicable industry guidelines or practices
- Engage and cultivate rapport with stakeholders to deliver Project objectives, manage expectations and ensure efficiency, best practices, and innovations, to meet project requirements.
- Provide reports to multiple stakeholders and Senior Management, including schedule management, cost management, stakeholder management, risk management, design and engineering, quality, safety, document control, flagging, corridor access, etc.
- Identify, monitor, mitigate, and escalate issues that can potentially put the success of the project at risk
- Provide oversight delivery of final commissioning and contract close out items as per Metrolinx Asset Handover protocols to realize benefits of maximizing customer service, satisfying internal stakeholder requirements, incorporating external agency requirements, and serving public interests.
- Attend various project meetings, prepare and present project submissions to internal stakeholders and governance panels.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Engineering or Architectural college/ university degree or diploma, or a related discipline - or a combination of relevant education, training and experience deemed equivalent
- Experience in construction project management, preferably within the public sector.
- Demonstrated experience in managing multi-disciplinary projects involving planning, design, construction, and commissioning of facilities, to meet budget, scheduling and quality requirements.
- Strong commercial and stakeholder management skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent presentation and public speaking skills
- Experience in railway design or construction is an asset
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset
- Knowledge of contract law, the Construction Act, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, and construction standards will be an asset.
- Driver’s Abstract (within the last 3 Years) will be required of the successful candidate, reflecting a class “G” license in good standing.
- Presence at various designated onsite locations as assigned by the leader for a minimum of three (3) days each week. Additionally, as an operational business continuity functional specialist, the candidate should be prepared to make regular visits during evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
