The opportunity:
The Project Manager (Level 1) will be responsible for project implementation, design solutions that address functional and aesthetic issues, management of projects through all phases, drafting as required, and monitoring of projects through the construction phase. The Project Manager will also engage outside design consultants, monitor their progress in project completion and provide technical reviews of their work. The position exists to provide the technical skills (research, planning, design, cost estimates, drawing and specification writing) needed in assisting in the operations and efficient functioning of all University needs. These skills are directed toward the preparation of feasibility studies, cost estimates, design and tender documents for the renovation or alteration of existing buildings.
The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:
- Eligibility for professional designation in Architecture, Engineering or Interior Design required.
- LEED accreditation would be an asset. Additional degrees or certificate in related disciplines such as project management would also be an asset.
- A minimum of 5 years of design and project management experience required.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of architecture and design in specific areas, such as building programs, preparation of budgets, concept design and functional planning is required.
- Comprehension of Building Code compliance, pedestrian and vehicle movement is required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills are required.
- Strong design and organizational skills are required.
- Must be familiar with AutoCAD and have skill in the research, analysis and development of plans and the preparation of technical reports and presentations.
- Skill in and utilizing planning and design related software packages is required.
- Proven ability to manage a significant number of projects at the same time is required.
