The Hamilton-Wentworth Chapter of Native Women’s Incorporated is seeking a Manager of Outreach Services.
The Manager of Outreach Services, under the direction of the Executive Director, will provide physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual case management and direct supports to women and children seeking emergency shelter services.
Position Summary
Staff Management:
- Supervise program staff providing strong leadership and encouraging effective team-based working relationships.
- Responsible for ensuring staff operate in accordance with NWC policies and procedures, and all applicable laws, by-laws, rules, regulations, and Acts pertaining to transitional/residential services and child welfare legislation while maintaining an appropriate professional relationship.
- Ensure consistent flow of information throughout team keeping staff informed of program and agency developments.
- Resolve any problems among staff, volunteers or clients.
- Monitor staff job performance including performance evaluations, reviews and any disciplinary action or terminations as required.
- Responsible for hiring, orientation, training and scheduling of Rosedene program staff.
- Acts as emergency backup for staff in day-to-day operations.
Program Delivery:
- Manage the daily operations of the Rosedene programs and services, in a safe, effective and respectful way for clients, children, staff and volunteers.
- Manage client documentation ensuring completeness and accuracy of information.
- Ensure program delivery is consistent with agency mission, vision and statement of principles.
- Establish program goals & objectives. Monitor program plan on regular basis with input from clients and staff to ensure meeting objectives. Ensure that annual program plan and evaluation take place.
- Collect and prepares statistics, monthly program activity reports and present reports to Executive Director on regular basis.
- Maintain program Procedures Manual and other applicable documents.
- Liaise with other NWC programs, community agencies and applicable stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery for women and children.
Agency-Wide Program Delivery:
- Actively participates in discussions and decisions of management team meetings.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of NWC/transitional and residential programs and liaise with these programs.
- Participate in agency-wide planning and review sessions and training programs.
Public Relations:
- Maintain a positive image for the organization and stakeholders.
- Function as a resource for community groups and individuals in the domestic and family violence and homelessness sectors.
Qualifications Required:
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in social work, social service work or related field that includes:
- Knowledge of and experience working with a range of issues impacting youth, women and children including homelessness, violence against women and children, human trafficking, poverty, mental health and substance use.
- Demonstrates cultural competency including awareness, knowledge and understanding of the impacts of colonialism and systemic issues.
- Experience working in a shelter/communal environment and completing intakes, safety plans, case notes, incident reports, plans of care, etc. is an asset.
- Case management experience and knowledge of various community resources to support people with diverse needs achieve their goals.
- Experience with program development, implementation and evaluation.
- Knowledge of de-escalation techniques, harm reduction, and crisis management.
- Intermediate computer literacy skills including Microsoft Office Programming.
- Preference given to those candidates with 3-5 years of management experience
- First Aid / CPR /AED Certification, would be an asset
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification (NVCPI), would be an asset
- ASIST Certification, would be an asset
- Food Handlers Certification, would be an asset
- Must have or obtain, within 30 days of hiring date, a Vulnerable Sector CPIC.
