Purpose:
Worley is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer based in Markham, Ontario with experience in Rotating Equipment in Hydrocarbon, Minera/Meta/Mining (MMM) and Nuclear Power Plant Industries. In Worley Canada East, you will report to Manager of Mechanical and Piping Engineering Department. You will work with Design Team Leads on various projects and will work well with the rest of the project team and customer while upholding Worley’s standards for safety and technical excellence.
Responsibilities:
Oversee and preparation of specification, and technical procurement services of Rotating Equipment including compressors, pumps, fans, mixers, etc across hydrocarbon, MMM (mineral, metal, mining), and nuclear sectors.
Getting involved in all phases of engineering projects—from Pre-Feasibility Study through Detailed Engineering and Construction Support.
Solve complex mechanical and process challenges with innovative and technically sound solutions.
Ensure compliance with nuclear and non-nuclear industry safety and quality standards.
Provide expert guidance on greenfield, brownfield, and refurbishment projects.
Act as a strong mentor to junior and intermediate engineers, fostering technical growth and excellence.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design integration, schedule alignment, and regulatory approvals.
Participate in regulatory audits, client meetings, and quality assurance activities.
Participate in risk assessments, design reviews, and constructability evaluations.
What you will bring:
Deep expertise in rotating equipment selection, and troubleshooting.
Proven experience with technical specifications and procurement processes for mechanical equipment.
Extensive knowledge and application of industry standards such as API, ASME, ANSI, ISO, CSA, etc.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex engineering challenges.
Familiarity with Bruce Power and/or OPG standards, safety protocols, and quality systems.
Proven ability to mentor and elevate junior and intermediate engineers through strong leadership and technical guidance.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills in high-stakes, regulated environments.
Commitment to design excellence, safety compliance, and client satisfaction.
Advanced understanding of nuclear safety principles, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Required:
Advanced, senior-level expertise in Rotating Equipment.
Valid Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license in Ontario.
Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident in Canada.
Canadian Nuclear active Security Clearances preferred.
