Advocate Printing & Publishing is in search of a passionate individual to join our pre-media team as a Pre-Press Operator. Based in our Pictou office, the Pre-Press Operator is responsible for reviewing and preparing customer-supplied production files for print, ensuring they meet digital and offset press-ready standards. The position requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in pre-press software, hands-on digital press operation, and a commitment to delivering high quality print materials.
Responsibilities
- Review and prepare customer-supplied files to ensure print readiness, including proper formatting, resolution, color settings, etc.
- Perform file preparation checks and make necessary adjustments using Adobe Creative Suite, Kodak Prinergy and other pre-press software.
- Impose, proof, and release jobs to press based on production schedules and specifications.
- Operate and maintain digital presses to produce a wide range of print materials.
- Monitor print quality and adjust for color, registration and image clarity.
- Coordinate with customer service and production team to resolve file issues and prioritize jobs.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues to minimize downtime.
- Be available for occasional extended hours or schedule adjustments during peak production periods.
Qualifications
- Experience in pre-press or digital print production is an asset but not required. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Familiarity with Adobe Create Suite and/or other digital printing software is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to producing high quality accurate print materials.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadline and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Comfortable working with computer, print equipment and handling printed materials.
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills, with a willingness to learn and grow.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
